Spike in unemployment fraud leads to small businesses being flooded with claims

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - States are being thrashed by a new wave of fraud as scammers are targeting small businesses in hopes of claiming unemployment dollars. Already this year, more than 31,000 unemployment claims have been sent back to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services after being flagged as false claims. In Kentucky, 60,000 of the 90,000 unemployment claims are considered to be fraudulent, and in Indiana, 11,000 identity theft claims have been filed in the last year.
